PIVOTAL POINT

Maquette of shaped stainless steel tubing on tetrahedron

9in. h x 3in. w 3in. d approximate dimensions 2007

Originally conceived as a noon marker and symbol of renewal in Egyptian Architecture, the obelisk has been redefined in Pivotal Point. At the core of the sculpture's concept is the unity of three stainless steel tubes which spiral upwards traveling in a curved path. The twisted tubing culminates in a sloped point.

Here, the tubing originates from the surface of a stainless steel tetrahedron and climbs from a triangular base.

The arc of the sculpture reaching into space as it curves upwards suggests multiple interpretations.
